Adventures In Google
Yesterday, April 6th, some of the Help Desk Team and I ventured off into the grounds of Google. It was an amazing experience because I hope to one day be working there. When we first arrived there, we were greeted with the Google Maps car. It looked pretty old and beat up, but nevertheless it was still interesting to see the amount of cameras mounted up onto one car. We then were greeted by Angela Larkin, who took us into the building and gave us a presentation and some activities to do, testing our 10x thinking. We then ate lunch and traversed the campus. What really took my attention were the Google bikes they had there. They had a whole bunch of bikes laying all around the campus, and any bike that no one is riding, is up for grabs, and I thought that was a really interesting and fun system due to the fact that the campus is fairly large. We ended our walk at the Visitors Area, when they had certain elements of the workspace compiled into one room. Some of the stuff they had there were Sleep Pods, massage chairs, a ball pit, mini golf, etc. This room made me think about how much Google valued their employees and how relaxing the actual workplace must be. We ended our amazing trip with some interview questions, which were quite interesting, and some questions we asked her. This trip was absolutely phenomenal, and I would go back any day

Surface Pro
I have been granted the Surface Pro from Mr. Tobin early on in the school year. The Surface has helped me out in many ways, from my ILE to various in-class exercises , just making my everyday life more efficient. My ILE is to generate QR codes for teachers linking to certain surveys, websites, files, and more. I was able to edit and create these QR codes and files on the spot thanks to the Surface.
I also mentor during the schools SS period (Study Session), and the Surface helps out when bringing up practice problems and tests when I work with my students. This helps a lot because it gets them involved and encouraged to work during the period, instead of the others, who are constantly on their phones for the duration of the class.
The Surface has also helped maximize my efficiency in class due to the fact that I have a portable computer in my backpack. When given any extra work time, I work on my documents, surveys, QR codes, etc... I can also respond to teacher requests and questions about their codes faster thanks to the Surface. All in all, the Surface has not only helped me, but my clients and students.
